CASUAL BILINGUAL CARE WORKERS

SydWest MSI CALD Aged Care Services (CALDACS) is looking for bilingual Care Workers to provide individual assistance to CALD clients living in Auburn, Blacktown and Holroyd LGA’s, ensuring that all their needs are considered and all services are delivered in an equitable and accessible manner.
Duties involve: Provision of direct assistance according to clients care plans such as showering or bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, light housework, home respite, laundry assistance, shopping, assistance with mobility, preparation or assistance with the preparation of meals, transport to medical or other appointments.
Essential criteria: Fluent in English & a second language, understanding and empathy in dealing with frail aged people from CALD background, good communication skills, observant, reliable & punctual, ability to maintain accurate records, current driver’s license and access to a fully insured & registered vehicle.
Award rates: $20.66 per hour with kilometer reimbursement. (Rates increase on weekends & public holidays)

Generalist Worker
Job Description
Sydwest MSI aims to promote and assist in the development of a multicultural cohesive society through ensuring equal access, opportunity and participation of all refugees, humanitarian entrants and their families.
Aim of the position: To provide direct support, casework, information to meet the settlement needs of refugees, humanitarian entrants and newly arrived families settling in Blacktown and Outer Western Sydney.
Positions Available:
- One Part-time Generalist Worker (28hrs. per week)
- One Part time African Generalist Worker (Great Lakes Region) (7 hrs. per week)
- One Part time Humanitarian Youth Caseworker (14 hrs. per week)
- One Part time Generalist Arabic Worker (7hrs. per week)
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Experience in casework and case management
- Demonstrated experience working with Refugee and humanitarian Entrants
- Understanding and knowledge of settlement issues affecting the Target group/(s)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Relevant experience in community and welfare services
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Team
- Strong links with one or more refugee communities settling in Blacktown and Outer West
Desirable :
- Ability to speak a community language
- Qualifications in Welfare or a related degree in the Social Sciences Field
- Access to a reliable and comprehensively insured car.
Salary:
- Salary and conditions in accordance with Modern Award.
- Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience

Family Harmony/Family Support Project Coordinator
Job Description
Job Title: Family Support /Family Harmony Coordinator
Status:28 hours per week (until June 2012)

qualifications and experience
Project Description: This project delivers peer mentoring for parents amongst culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families in Blacktown LGA to build community capacity and social connectedness. It also assists families to access relevant services, addresses intergenerational conflict and risk taking behaviours and provides families with tools to enhance their functioning and well-being and give children a good start in life.
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience working with CALD, Refugee and vulnerable and disadvantaged families.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshops and running groups.
- Proven ability to liaise and network with Service Providers and community groups.
- Ability to write succinct and accurate Reports and communicate effectively with volunteers, staff and relevant bodies as required.
- Experience in supervisory roles and understanding of administrative accountability and data management systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in developing professional and interagency relationships.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a Team.
- Strong links with Refugee communities.
Desirable :
- Ability to speak one or more emerging community languages
- Access to a reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
