Connecting Cultures Building Community

Discovery Challenge

Discovery Challenge was designed to get young people talking about the issues that effect them. Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre encourages the use of this kit as an educational resource for students between the ages of 12 - 18 and beyond. The kit may also be of value to teachers and community groups.

Funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the project focuses mainly on encouraging dialogue between students of refugee and migrant backgrounds and student with a multi generational Australian Background.

Additional funds were supplied through the Blacktown Alcohol and Other Drugs Family Services and therefore the following question guide also focuses on issues that surround problematic use of alcohol and other drugs.

The kit has been trialled at local high schools and received positive feedback from both schools and teachers. For more information contact Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre on 9621 6633.
