The Community Project Officer (CPO) is responsible for the provision of Community development and other support services to recently arrived migrants,refugees and humanitarian entrants. Some of the general responsiblities of the CPO are:
Direct Service Provision
Identify recently arrived communities and their needs and develop strategies to address their by :
- Organising as required the provision of language and culturally appropriated information advice and referral services
- Provide Support groups and other community infrastructure necessary to make settlement process less traumatic.
Service Provided Support
- Identify gaps in service provision and work with other sesrvice providers to address these
- Identify systematic issues with other service delivery communities and work with service providers to overcome these issues
- Develop partnership with other service providers to enhance service provision to CALD communities in the Blacktown Local Government Area.
Service Co-ordination and Promotion
co-ordinates, resourses and co-convenes the Blacktown Mt Druitt Migrant Interagency and ensure that it functions as a peak forum for addressing issues affecting migrant and refugees communities in the area.
The Blacktown/Mt Druitt Migrant Interagency is composed by Government,Non-Government organisation and Community Groups in the Blacktown Local Government Area
The aim is to address issues of access and equity for people from CALD background. The Interagency seeks to address current issues affecting all culturally and linguistically diverse community members, e.g. aged,youth,families,etc.
Representatives of service providers who are not able to attend meetings, but want to be kept informed, can be on the contact list and receive minutes of meetings.
